Breckland Older People’s Forum.

The forum was launched on the 5th October 2011. The first AGM and committee selection was held at EcoTech in Swaffham on the 27th March last year. The aim of the forum is to act as conduit for older people. Older people’s forums exist all over the country: there are separate forums representing North, South and West Norfolk as well as Broadland, Norwich, Great Yarmouth in addition to us in Breckland.

The idea of the forum is to represent older people’s needs and concerns at a local level but also take into consideration wider initiatives that may be relevant to Breckland residents. The committee have held public meetings around the district during 2012 at Swaffham, Thetford and Little Ellingham. So far this year Dereham and Watton are also planned.

As the district is very large it would be very welcome to have more members on the committee to represent the wider communities this would accelerate the aims of the committee for the older people of Breckland.

For more information call 01362 656870 and ask for Stephanie Barnard.
